My father’s maternal ancestors lived in Texas and Oklahoma, and many migrated to California in the late 1930’s. My research so far has shown that only my direct line of ancestors came to Wisconsin. I have a unique perspective of these ancestors because I never had the opportunity to meet any of them. They are also interesting to research because they come from a long line of educators, many of whom were well-known in their communities. I have no doubt that my love for learning comes from these genes, and I hope that in assembling their stories I can share that enthusiasm with my readers. My paternal surnames include:
Aldridge
Holbert
Robinson
Sanders
The counties they lived in include Palestine, Anderson County, Texas, and Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas. I have located those that moved to Oklahoma in Okfuskee County. There was no clear pattern of migration to California as I have found them in both Southern and Northern locations.
